We are excited to be taking care of our friend’s ball python Dusa, and their Crested Gecko Dart.

This is Dart, she is a Crested Gecko, also known as an Eyelash Gecko. She is captive bred but the species is from New Caledonia. I am responsible for feeding her and misting her enclosure to make sure that it is nice and humid. She likes to jump so we don’t take her out of the enclosure (this photo was taken while the owners were showing us how to care for her!)
This is Dusa – short for Medusa! She is a young ball python. This species is originally from the grasslands, savannah, and sparsely wooded areas of sub-Saharan Africa. She is captive bred and now lives in East Vancouver! Knowing about her natural habitat is important so that we can manage her environment appropriately. We made sure that her enclosure was nice and humid and that the temperature in the room was *just right*. We didn’t need to feed her while we were caring for her because her family was only away a short while and she can go two weeks at her age between feeding (even longer when she gets older!).
